The last few weeks have had me feeling sick and unable to do my normal things. I find that it is difficult for me to be as happy as I usually am. I seem to hole up in the apartment. This is just not me. I have been worried to death about Henry. My cat that is my world. It has just been difficult for me to get in the groove of my life. I must be depressed/  I have been sick all summer/  Usually, I am out buying and selling/ I can not get into anything. I really need to get myself out of here and live my life. But can I???

My Henry

As Father's Day approaches I think of the awesome Dad that I had. I miss him. He passed away at age 53 awaiting a heart transplant. We actually had just came in from the funeral and the hospital called and said Get Louis to the hospital!!We have found him a heart!!!WOW!! Really??? A little too late I'm afraid. Needless to say it was devastating. Very devastating!! I cried for weeks and months then turned into years.!!I had to come to the realization that it just was not meant to be. They even told him he might not make it even if they found him a heart.  Back in 1988 it was all brand new. He even made the Tennessean as one of the 13 waiting for a transplant. I carried that burden around for the longest. Being a Christian, I knew that was not right. That death was a part of our integral life and that eventually we all would be dealt the same fate. He knew he was dying. We all did. Accepting it was just not part of the program!!

My Dad was not perfect by any means. He had his faults. But, don't we all?? Mom would stand I the kitchen and swallow her MOTHER"S LITTLE HELPER valium when he drove in the driveway!!haha

I don't focus on the negatives. Life is way too short and I am getting older!!I wish I had known Mom and Dad at my age. What fun that would have been. If you are lucky enough to have you Father, please spend time with them. My very last Father's Day I spent with Daddy we went to the Cooker for lunch/ Just me and him. A special bond.

When the window smashed my fingers at school I refused to cry till Daddy got home then the flood waters began.

When I learned to ride a bike it was Daddy that said you can do it and ran with me till I could zoom away. Red pigtails flying!!

When I was sad only Daddy could dry my tears. Only Daddy could hold my hand and make me feel like I was the only person in the world that was so special.

I loved my Dad. Through thick and thin ,

I loved him. And on Father's day I will grieve for him because I miss him. But, I will spend it with all the other Dad's in my world now. My precious Lloyd. My Father in law and son in law.

Make Father's Day special for those you love/ and Rusty

Summer TYME!!

Summer time. Watermelon, grilling, swimming. vacations!!What a fun time of the year. I really enjoy the boys and taking them out to explore everything. Trying new things, new foods.  Climbing tree's and throwing rocks at the water!!Recently, my oldest grandson, Nick, and I went to my favorite antique store in Kentucky. McClard's Antiques. I love that as soon as we walked in, his face lit up like a Christmas tree! It was so sweet how he marveled at the old school desk  from the 1800's and civil war memorabilia. It was cute. He always loves Nana's JUNK as he calls it:) Good junk. Haha/
It is a great way to teach History and a love of antiques!
Nick found an antique guitar~~

We had lot's of fun and Nick learned a lot of History that day! As we were leaving the shop, in walked Dan Weaver, from  A Primitive Place Magazine and Grecia Dunn a sweet friend of mine. Dan, was in town to photograph her beautiful salt box home. I was so thrilled to see him as Dan is an absolute sweetheart.

Grecia, Dan Weaver and Gail McClard

of changing my place around. I also have torn a closet apart to spring clean and have that  to tend with/
I have already made 3 trips to goodwill. I did want to show you my find over the weekend. This
amazing old butter dish. There is a place in the back for a spoon,  exclaimed the Antique dealer/
Also you open it up and it has a little place for ice
underneath where the butter goes. I thought that was the coolest thing!!
Who knows, I may use it. I just thought it was so pretty. I always wonder when I get such treasures who used this. How long they kept it. I am amazed at the oldest of things!!Lloyd also got me a darling set of pewter salt and pepper shakers.  would imagine the last people to use that would have been maybe the 1920's/ Of course there is no way to know for sure.
I hope you find some great treasures.
If interested in any of my goodes just leave a message. You can also find me on Pinterest.
Many Blessings,

Warmer weather

It is amazingly warm here in Tennessee! There is an effervescent glow in the sky and the breezes are most welcoming here.  I do love this time of year but do not like the hot weather.

I am so ready to go exploring the countryside but my back problems have somewhat hindered me. I love my antique stores and my favorite ones are in Kentucky.

McClard's Antiques is an amazing fun place to visit. There are so many unique antiques and primitives to find there. Gail McClard is such a sweet dear friend of mine. I love to go there and usually stop and take us  a lunch and we chat and talk about decorating. I have found lots of treasures there.

Another Favorite place is Rock Garden Farms. I love this place and Darlene is so sweet~!She has tons of Primitives, Antiques and great old Antiques! You truly never know what you will find there.
If you get a chance go~~
McClard's Antiques~~

I also love old Barns~!!
So I am planning soon to visit these places and many other favorite haunts!!
I have to first get my back problems squared away as it is quite painful to do very much right now. I do hope you will stop by these places if you get a chance/You will not be disappointed!!

With Much love, Candilou

Oh, how I love a rainy day!!It is so nice to have my candles lit and the house all warm and cozy!!I love to putter around the house and do random things. Like, rearranging things, cleaning, or even spending the day resting and watching HGTV!!I love to do that!!
.So, today I felt so bad I decided to try and be careful in what I chose to do with my day. Having SLE, Fibromyalgia and 2 ruptured disk make it hard for me some days to maneuver around.  I decided to go against the odds and head out to grab a quick lunch and visit my favorite boutique. I found a darling old very primitive stool. It has brown, green and blue paint under layers of peeling. I actually like the very distressed look. So, I decided it needed a home.

Upon, leaving there i headed to Hobby Lobby for some dried flowers to put in my huge green onion jar I found at Goodwill yesterday!!That was a treasure for sure at $3.99!!

It is now evening and the rain continues to fall as I write. Ready to go to bed anyway and read a little before I turn in. I hope you will be blessed with good health and many Blessings!!

From my house to yours,
